Denmark Bolsters Ties with Bangladesh’s Apparel Sector in Push for Sustainability

Danish Ambassador to Bangladesh, H.E. Christian Brix Møller, met with the newly elected President of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), Mr. Mahmud Hasan Khan, to discuss expanding strategic trade ties and reinforcing Denmark’s role in Bangladesh’s apparel industry, particularly in its shift toward sustainability.

As Bangladesh’s top per capita export destination, Denmark is a key partner in the country’s garment sector, which is undergoing a significant green and responsible transformation. The discussions focused on deepening collaboration to support this evolution.

Denmark’s contributions include investments in green ports, offshore wind energy, and initiatives promoting decent work, safety, and institutional capacity. Through strategic partnerships and research-driven projects, Denmark continues to drive sustainable growth in Bangladesh’s apparel value chain, strengthening bilateral ties and fostering a more responsible industry.
