Dhaka, September 6, 2025 – In a special interview with *Textile Focus Magazine*, H.E. Mr. Alexander Khozin, Ambassador of Russia to Bangladesh, underscored the robust economic relationship between the two nations, with Bangladesh being Russia’s second-largest trade partner in South Asia. The Ambassador noted that bilateral trade turnover surpassed $2 billion in 2024, with ready-made garments constituting the majority of Bangladesh’s exports to Russia. He highlighted that the trade volume had reached a record high of nearly $3 billion in 2021, but recent declines were attributed to global economic challenges stemming from the collective West. Energy cooperation remains a cornerstone of Russia-Bangladesh relations, with the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant, Bangladesh’s first nuclear energy facility, being a flagship project. Once completed, the plant is expected to add 2,400 MW to the national grid, significantly boosting the country’s energy capacity. The full interview provides further insights into the deepening economic and developmental ties between Russia and Bangladesh.
