Pakistan Commerce Minister to Visit Bangladesh, Talks Underway for Finance Minister’s Trip

Dhaka, August 14, 2025 – Pakistan’s Commerce Minister Jam Jamal Khan is scheduled to visit Dhaka for a four-day official tour starting August 21, diplomatic sources confirmed. The visit aims to strengthen bilateral trade ties between Pakistan and Bangladesh, with a memorandum of understanding (MoU) expected to be signed to facilitate smoother trade relations.

In addition, discussions are ongoing between Bangladesh’s interim government and Pakistani officials to arrange a visit by Pakistan’s Finance Minister, Muhammad Aurangzeb, to Dhaka, signaling deepening diplomatic engagement. The upcoming visit follows confirmation of Pakistan Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar’s trip to Dhaka on August 23-24, marking the first official visit by a Pakistani foreign minister since Hina Rabbani’s brief five-hour visit in November 2012 to invite then-Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to a D-8 summit. Recent efforts to revive bilateral ties have gained momentum, particularly after the fall of the Awami League government. Pakistan’s Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi visited Dhaka in July, followed by Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch’s trip on April 16-17, the first such visit in 15 years.
Khan’s visit is expected to focus on enhancing economic cooperation, building on these diplomatic exchanges to foster stronger Pakistan-Bangladesh relations.
