China Pledges Enhanced Cooperation with Bangladesh in Economic and Cultural Sectors

Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen announced China’s commitment to deepening cooperation with Bangladesh, particularly in economic and cultural domains, during a press conference at the Chinese Embassy in Dhaka on Wednesday. The event marked the pre-departure briefing for a Bangladeshi delegation set to undergo drone technology training in China.

For the first time, 11 Bangladeshi technical personnel will travel to Shanghai and Guangzhou for a month-long drone formation performance training program, departing Dhaka on August 15 and returning on September 13. Ambassador Yao described the initiative as “just the beginning” of technological collaboration between the two nations, emphasizing that such programs strengthen people-to-people connectivity and bilateral ties. “This training program on drone technology opens a new chapter in Bangladesh-China relations, taking our partnership to new heights,” Yao stated. He highlighted a recent drone show in Dhaka, supported by China, which illuminated the capital’s sky to mark the “36 July Celebration,” as a symbol of growing cultural and technological exchange. Cultural Affairs Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki, speaking at the event, underscored the significance of the cultural bond between Bangladesh and China. “This collaboration creates new dynamism in our bilateral relations,” he said, noting that over 500 applications were received for the drone training program, with 11 participants selected. Farooki praised the recent series of six drone shows, facilitated by Chinese support, which have gained immense popularity among Bangladesh’s youth. “Drones represent a new medium for storytelling, blending technology and art to create compelling narratives,” he said, expressing optimism about future collaborations between Bangladesh’s Ministry of Cultural Affairs and the Chinese government to preserve cultural heritage and expand traditional and new media.
The initiative reflects a growing partnership between the two nations, with drone technology serving as a bridge for economic and cultural advancement.
