US Embassy in Dhaka Warns Visa Applicants: Fraudulent Information Could Lead to Permanent Ban

The US Embassy in Dhaka has issued a stern warning to visa applicants, stating that submitting false documents or withholding information could result in a lifetime ban from entering the United States and potential criminal prosecution. This advisory was shared in a post on the embassy’s official Facebook page on Friday, July 18, 2025.

The embassy’s statement highlighted, “Consular officers are well-versed in detecting visa fraud, including new tactics and technologies used to forge documents.”

The post stressed that applicants are responsible for providing truthful and transparent information during the visa application process. “Submitting fake documents or concealing information is a serious offense, which may lead to a permanent entry ban to the US, severely impacting future travel and immigration opportunities. Applicants may also face criminal charges,” the advisory cautioned.

The embassy urged applicants to avoid relying on fraudulent agents or intermediaries and to submit accurate information directly to ensure a secure application process. **Mandatory Disclosure of Social Media Information** In an earlier post on July 10, the embassy clarified that visa applicants must list all social media accounts used in the past five years in the DS-160 visa application form. Applicants are required to verify the accuracy of all provided information before signing and submitting the form. Failure to disclose social media details could result in visa denial and disqualification from future applications.
