The Embassy of Switzerland in Bangladesh hosted *Biophilia

The Embassy of Switzerland in Bangladesh hosted *Biophilia*, a vibrant event celebrating local climate action and the vital connection between people, climate, and culture. Held yesterday, the event spotlighted community-led initiatives as key drivers in addressing the impacts of climate change on marginalized communities.

The gathering was graced by prominent figures, including Mr. Muhammad Fouzlul Kabir Khan, Honorable Adviser to the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources; Ms. Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Honorable Adviser to the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change; and Dr. M. Sakhawat Hussain, Honorable Adviser to the Ministry of Shipping. H.E. Michael Miller, Ambassador of the EU Delegation to Bangladesh, also attended and delivered remarks at the closing session.

Ms. Corinne Henchoz Pignani, Chargée d'Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of Switzerland, hosted the event and emphasized the importance of grassroots solutions. “The answers to the climate crisis lie not only in high-level negotiations, but in the lived realities of people — the farmers, the fisherfolk, the women and youth who are already adapting, already innovating, and already leading,” she said.
Organized as part of Switzerland’s commitment to climate action, *Biophilia* highlighted the Swiss-supported *Climate Action at Local Level (CALL)* programme, a collaborative effort with nine Swiss NGOs. The initiative underscores the power of community-driven efforts in building resilience and fostering sustainable change in Bangladesh’s most vulnerable regions.
