British High Commissioner Presents MBE Insignia to Shaheen Anam

Dhaka, August 6, 2025: British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Sarah Cooke formally presented the insignia of the Honorary Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) to Shaheen Anam, Executive Director of Manusher Jonno Foundation (MJF), on Wednesday.

The ceremony took place at the British High Commission in Dhaka, where Cooke praised Anam’s contributions, stating, “I am delighted to present this award to Shaheen Anam on behalf of His Majesty The King. Her tireless dedication to human rights, social justice, and gender equality has made a lasting impact in Bangladesh, reflecting the shared values and enduring partnership between our two countries.”

Anam was named an Honorary MBE by King Charles III in February 2025 for her outstanding work in promoting social justice, inclusion, and gender equality in Bangladesh. These values align closely with the shared goals of the UK and Bangladesh. The UK has partnered with MJF for over 20 years, supporting over 460 grassroots organizations to advance human rights and empower marginalized communities across Bangladesh, according to a media release. This collaboration has driven transformative initiatives focused on dignity, inclusion, and justice for all.
