Bangladesh-US Joint Military Exercise 'Tiger Shark' Strengthens Defence Ties

Dhaka, August 2, 2025 – The United States and Bangladesh have successfully concluded *Tiger Shark*, a bilateral military exercise aimed at enhancing regional security cooperation, interoperability, and mutual capacity between their armed forces. The exercise underscores the strong defence partnership between the two nations, according to a statement from the US Embassy in Dhaka on Saturday.

US Chargé d’Affaires Ambassador Tracey Jacobson highlighted the significance of the exercise, stating, “This joint military exercise reaffirms our commitment to a safer, stronger, and more prosperous Indo-Pacific. It also symbolises the strong US-Bangladesh partnership.”

*Tiger Shark* brought together personnel from the United States Indo-Pacific Command and the Bangladesh Armed Forces for a series of integrated training activities. These included medical training, patrolling, marksmanship, swimming and diving, and close-quarters combat. The exercise also featured subject matter expert exchanges, joint planning sessions, and simulation exercises to foster a coordinated approach to addressing future regional challenges in the Indo-Pacific.
The US Indo-Pacific Command, America’s oldest and largest combatant command, oversees military activities across the Asia-Pacific region and collaborates with partners to promote peace and stability. The *Tiger Shark* exercise reflects the shared commitment of Bangladesh and the United States to advancing security and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
