Bangladesh Embassy in Riyadh Commemorates First Anniversary of July Uprising

Riyadh, August 3, 2025: The Bangladesh Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, marked the first anniversary of the July Mass Uprising with a series of events under the banner "July Beyond Borders" on July 31. Held at the embassy auditorium, the program included a discussion session, an exhibition of photographs and posters, and the screening of a documentary highlighting the historic uprising.

The event was presided over by Bangladesh’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Md. Delwar Hossain. In his opening remarks, the Ambassador paid tribute to the martyrs of the July uprising, offering prayers for their souls. He also expressed condolences for the lives lost in the recent air crash at Milestone School and College in Dhaka, wishing a speedy recovery to the injured. In a parallel event titled "Remittance Warriors," Ambassador Hossain expressed gratitude to the Bangladeshi diaspora in Saudi Arabia for their remittances, which significantly contribute to the nation’s economy. He urged the expatriate community to remain united on issues concerning Bangladesh.

The Ambassador called on all citizens to embrace the spirit of the July uprising and work collectively from their respective positions to advance the nation toward prosperity. The program began with a minute of silence in memory of those who lost their lives in the July uprising and the Milestone School and College air crash. A documentary on the July uprising was screened, attended by distinguished guests, including political, social, business, cultural, and media personalities, as well as Bangladeshi students and community members.
Ambassador Hossain, along with the guests, visited an exhibition of photographs, posters, and graffiti dedicated to the martyrs of the July uprising, organized in the embassy courtyard.
