Sweden and Bangladesh Sign Agreement for Environmental Conservation and Climate Resilience

Dhaka, July 5, 2025 – Sweden and Bangladesh have joined forces to promote a greener and more sustainable future through a new agreement signed today between Sweden’s government and the Economic Relations Division of the Government of Bangladesh, with the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change as the implementing partner.

The partnership aims to bolster Bangladesh’s efforts in protecting its rich biodiversity and enhancing climate resilience. Key initiatives include strengthening environmental institutions, restoring critical ecosystems such as Sonadia Island, and supporting the establishment of a national Wildlife Trust Fund.

This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to building a climate-resilient and sustainable Bangladesh, safeguarding both its natural heritage and the well-being of its people. The agreement was facilitated by Sida, the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency, marking a significant step toward global climate action and biodiversity conservation.
