No Place for Terrorism in Bangladesh, Declares Chief Adviser Yunus

Dhaka, July 28, 2025 – Chief Adviser of Bangladesh’s interim government, Professor Muhammad Yunus, reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to combating terrorism, declaring that no terrorist groups would be allowed to operate in the country.

Speaking during a 40-minute meeting with the US Chargé d’Affaires in Dhaka, Tracy Ann Jacobson, at the state guesthouse Yamuna on Monday afternoon, Yunus emphasized, “The fight against terrorism is our top priority. We have a zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism and will eradicate it from our soil with all our strength.”

The meeting covered issues of mutual interest, including ongoing tariff negotiations between Bangladesh and the United States.

Chargé d’Affaires Jacobson reiterated the US government’s support for Bangladesh’s reform efforts and democratic transition, which is expected to culminate in national elections early next year.

Yunus also highlighted the progress of a commission working to build national consensus, aimed at fostering unity among political parties on key reforms. “I believe the commission is doing excellent work. Under Professor Ali Riaz’s leadership, its members are working tirelessly,” he added.
