Mr. André Carstens, Head of Mission of the Netherlands Embassy, delivered a lecture today at the National Defence College (NDC) in Dhaka. Titled “Contemporary Netherlands: Its Foreign Policy, Security, Development Strategy, and Netherlands–Bangladesh Relations,” the talk was attended by 97 senior officials participating in the National Defence Course 2025. The audience included 29 international participants from 18 countries, all holding ranks equivalent to Brigadier General or Joint Secretary.
The engaging session featured an interactive Q&A segment, showcasing the participants’ keen interest in Dutch foreign policy and global engagement. Earlier in the day, Mr. Carstens met with Lieutenant General Mohammad Shaheenul Haque, Commandant of NDC, for a courtesy call. The two discussed shared priorities and explored avenues for future cooperation between the Netherlands and Bangladesh. The event underscores the growing ties between the two nations, as highlighted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Bangladesh, and the Netherlands’ Ministry of Foreign Affairs.Monday, July 7, 2025
