Canadian High Commissioner and World Vision Bangladesh Launch Book Highlighting Success in Combating Child Marriage

Dhaka, July 5, 2025 – The High Commissioner of Canada to Bangladesh, alongside World Vision Bangladesh, unveiled a new book titled *Power Within: The Strength to Transform* today, showcasing inspiring stories from the Youth Empowered – Preventing Child, Early & Forced Marriage (CEFM) project.

Since its inception in 2021, the initiative has achieved significant milestones in empowering young girls and transforming communities. The project has prevented 97 child marriages, enabling girls to continue their education and avoid early pregnancies. Additionally, 16,000 schoolgirls have received monthly hygiene kits, improving menstrual health and boosting school attendance. The program has also mobilized 1,000 faith leaders to challenge harmful cultural norms and advocate for girls’ rights, while 2,000 caregivers have embraced gender-equitable family roles and positive parenting practices.

The book launch highlighted the power of community-driven efforts to break cycles of inequality and create a brighter future for Bangladesh’s girls. The event underscored the ongoing commitment to ending child marriage and fostering gender equality.
