The U.S. Department of State has announced that all applicants for F, M, or J visas, including students and exchange participants, undergo rigorous screening to identify those deemed inadmissible, particularly individuals posing a threat to national security. As part of this process, since 2019, visa applicants have been required to provide social media identifiers on both immigrant and nonimmigrant visa application forms. This measure enhances the vetting process by incorporating all available information to ensure the safety and security of the United States.
