Seychelles keen to boost trade, ties with Bangladesh, says President Ramkalawan

Dhaka, July 24, 2025 – Seychelles President Wavel Ramkalawan has expressed his country’s commitment to deepening trade, business, and investment ties with Bangladesh, emphasizing the value Seychelles places on its relationship with the South Asian nation.

In a ceremony at the State House on Tuesday, Dr. Zokey Ahad presented his credentials as the new non-resident High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Seychelles, succeeding Rezina Ahmed, who held the post since August 6, 2019. During the event, both leaders voiced optimism about exploring new avenues of cooperation for mutual benefit.

President Ramkalawan extended solidarity to the people of Bangladesh, offering heartfelt condolences for the victims of the tragic Bangladesh Air Force aircraft crash at a school in Dhaka. He also congratulated Dr. Ahad on his appointment, warmly welcoming him and wishing him success in his tenure. Additionally, he conveyed his best wishes to the President of Bangladesh and the Chief Adviser of the interim government.

In response, Dr. Ahad conveyed the warm greetings of the Bangladesh President to President Ramkalawan and expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and cooperation extended by the Seychelles government since his arrival. Dr. Ahad, who joined the Bangladesh Mission in Port Louis, Mauritius, on June 9, 2024, underscored his commitment to strengthening bilateral ties.
President Ramkalawan praised Bangladesh’s remarkable development, noting that Seychelles could benefit from sharing Bangladesh’s experiences to achieve its own developmental goals. The discussions highlighted a shared vision for enhanced collaboration, with both nations eager to foster stronger economic and diplomatic relations in the future.
