International Pedagogical Marathon "Living Classics" Continues Summer Educational Program

The International Pedagogical Marathon "Living Classics" has launched a new webinar as part of its 2025 Summer Educational Program, now available on the "Living Classics" VK page. Released on July 11, the lecture, delivered by Dr. Elizaveta Alexandrovna Khamraeva, Professor and Head of the Department of Linguodidactics of Russian as a Foreign Language and Bilingualism at Moscow State Pedagogical University, focuses on teaching Russian to bilingual children. Dr. Khamraeva explores subject integration technologies (CLIL), strategies for engaging unbalanced bilinguals aged 5-7, and selecting appropriate textbooks for bilingual learners. The webinar is accessible at: https://vk.com/young_readers?w=wall-25423332_126749.

The Summer Educational Program includes seven webinars, with the first, "Navigating Modern Children's and Teenage Literature," released on June 13. This year’s marathon emphasizes supporting teachers of Russian language and literature abroad, alongside promoting public diplomacy for children. Topics include neuroaspects of teaching bilinguals, subject-language integration to motivate learning, educational literature for bilinguals with varying proficiency levels, and linguodidactic diagnostics for PreOGE-level bilinguals. Additional webinars address interactive literary classes to engage young readers and strategies to prevent teacher burnout. These sessions also benefit Russian teachers working with bilingual students in Russian schools.

The "Living Classics" Marathon unites over 35,000 educators from Russia and 50 countries, all curators of the International Competition for Young Readers "Living Classics." The initiative aims to build a global community of educators, foster professional development, and promote Russian language and literature. The program, supported by a grant from the Presidential Grants Fund for civil society development, features online courses, discussion clubs, teleconferences, and coaching sessions from April 2025, culminating in the International Humanitarian Pedagogical Forum in Kaliningrad this fall.
