China Offers Advanced Drone Technology to Bangladesh

On Wednesday, July 30, 2025, China’s Ambassador to Bangladesh, Yao Wen, met with Agriculture and Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (Retd.) at the Secretariat in Dhaka. During the meeting, the Chinese envoy expressed keen interest in transferring advanced drone technology to Bangladesh for its agricultural sector.

The discussions focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation, including the export of agricultural products, technology transfer, and the exchange of knowledge and expertise in agriculture. The Adviser welcomed the Ambassador, noting that China has been a long-standing development partner of Bangladesh, with diplomatic ties spanning half a century. He expressed optimism about further strengthening this relationship in the future.

The Adviser thanked China for importing mangoes from Bangladesh during the current season and urged the country to consider importing jackfruits and aromatic rice in the upcoming season. He also called for Chinese support in modernizing Bangladesh’s agriculture through mechanization, establishing modern cold storage facilities, and providing training to farmers and agriculture-related stakeholders. Ambassador Yao Wen affirmed China’s interest in collaborating with Bangladesh in the agricultural sector. He highlighted China’s willingness to work on projects such as establishing fertilizer factories, ensuring food safety, and transferring cutting-edge drone technology to enhance agricultural productivity.
